It was David’s impressive career achievements and his ability to bring a unique, independent and fresh approach to the Hall Chadwick team, which convinced the Partners to appoint him as Hall Chadwick’s captain.

David has extensive experience in finance, investment and merchant banking. Beginning his career at a very young age, David progressed quickly to a Managing Director position. David has been a former Director in companies across various industries, including Pitt Capital Partners Ltd., Kleinwort Benson Ltd., Stockland Trust Group and many others. Over his career David has participated at the board level in some 42 private and listed companies and has also been the principal adviser in over 210 mergers and acquisitions projects.

Expanding, strengthening and integrating the firm’s network of operations around Australia will be one of David’s key objectives in his role as chairman. “Our pledge is that, wherever they are, every Hall Chadwick client can rely upon consistent and excellent service. Being the premium service provider for SMEs is critical to our group’s members.”

David’s career path is unique as he was also a CEO of the Anglican Church for ten years, from which he derived further expertise and emotional intelligence which contributed to him becoming the great leader that he is today.

“I learnt a great deal from this time with the Church and worked with a great group of people, many of whom are close friends to this day. Of the many things learnt in my time at the Church, the most important on the personal front was to be more aware of others’ Feelings and become a better listener.”

David has played football at both representative and first grade levels. He believes that some of his successes in business have been due to the training and mind-set learnt from his involvement in this sport.

“I have a passion for teamwork as in say, rugby. It fosters an environment that is characterised by loyalty, teamwork, persistence and not being afraid to speak up. In virtually every company that I have been associated with our communication and meetings are like a half-time team talk. Everyone has the right to have a say, not just the coach, and a team decision is made within a short period of time.”

“Now essentially, I see myself here to coach and teach and of course, play devil’s advocate at the partner level!”
